MORE THAN 1,000 CHILDREN CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AT CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE’S TRADITIONAL RECEPTIONS
Belgrade, 5 January 2026 – The White Palace in Belgrade was once again filled with laughter and joy as HRH Crown Princess Katherine hosted her traditional Christmas receptions for more than 1,000 children in need from Serbia and the Republic of Srpska. Together with HRH Crown Prince Alexander, the Crown Princess welcomed children without parental care, children with developmental difficulties, and socially vulnerable children, continuing a cherished humanitarian tradition.
“Each child’s smile is a reminder of why we must continue helping those who need us most,” said HRH Crown Princess Katherine, expressing her gratitude to all friends, donors, and supporters who make these celebrations possible. She also noted the special personal significance of being able to greet the children again following her victory over cancer.
The receptions were made possible thanks to the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, the main supporter of this long-standing initiative, whose representatives Ms. Donna M. Sekulich, Esq., and Mrs. Melanie Sever attended the events, along with Mrs. Betty Roumeliotis, the Crown Princess’s sister. Thousands of gifts—clothing, shoes, toys, hygiene items, and school supplies—were donated by Lifeline Chicago benefactors and personally distributed by Their Royal Highnesses.
In addition, Lifeline Chicago and the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade organized Christmas food deliveries to children’s homes, ensuring warm holiday meals. Special contributions were also made by Belgrade international schoolchildren through the campaign “Children Helping Children.”
The festive program included Santa Claus, animators from “Cigra,” performances by the Children’s Cultural Center of Belgrade Choir, and a Christmas message and blessing delivered by His Grace Bishop Peter on behalf of His Holiness the Patriarch.
