A Gift of Safety and Dignity: Donor Support Brings Comfort to Children at Zvečanska Center
Belgrade, December 26, 2025 – For children without parental care, the smallest improvements can mean the greatest sense of security. Thanks to the generosity of devoted donors, another meaningful project has been completed at the Center for the Protection of Infants, Children, and Youth “Zvečanska” in Belgrade—bringing comfort, privacy, and dignity to the children who call it home.
Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, together with The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade, continues its long-standing mission to stand beside vulnerable children in Serbia and Republika Srpska. These efforts are driven by donors whose compassion helps transform institutions into warmer, safer places where children can feel protected and valued.
Through this project, the fifth girls’ wing at the Zvečanska Center received brand-new doors for four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two entrances. More than a physical upgrade, these doors represent safety, personal space, and a sense of belonging—essential elements in helping children heal, grow, and feel respected.
This heartfelt project was made possible by the generous support of Gary and Charlene Stanich, whose donation through Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago has directly touched the lives of these young girls. Their kindness is a powerful reminder that when donors lead with empathy, they create lasting change and offer children not just improved surroundings, but hope, comfort, and reassurance that they are not forgotten.
