A Gift of Dignity and Care: Lifeline Chicago Delivers Vital Donation to Sremčica Institution

Belgrade, 3 January 2026 — Compassion was transformed into comfort today as HRH Crown Princess Katherine brought a vital donation to the women’s section of the Sremčica Institution for Children and Youth in Belgrade, offering tangible relief to some of the country’s most vulnerable residents.

Accompanied by TRH Crown Prince Alexander, Mrs. Betty Roumeliotis, Mrs. Donna Sekulic and Mrs. Melanie Sever of Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, and Mr. Nikola Vukelić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Crown Princess Katherine personally visited the Institution to deliver this much-needed support.

A Donation That Directly Improves Daily Life

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation, the women’s pavilion—home to as many as 90 residents—received new mattresses, waterproof mattress covers, pillows, blankets, and full bedding sets. These essential items will significantly improve hygiene, comfort, and overall living conditions for the women who reside at Sremčica, many of whom require ongoing care and special attention.

This meaningful humanitarian effort was made possible through the collaboration of the Wuchenich Foundation, Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago, and the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade, whose shared mission is to restore dignity, safety, and hope to those in need.

Gratitude From the Institution

Dr. Marina Vidojević, Acting Director of the Sremčica Institution for Children and Youth, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the donation:

“This support means a great deal to our institution and, above all, to the women who live here. The new mattresses and bedding will greatly improve their daily comfort and quality of life. We are sincerely grateful to HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Lifeline Chicago, and The Wuchenich Foundation for their continued care and kindness.”

A Commitment to Those Who Cannot Speak for Themselves

Reflecting on the importance of sustained humanitarian engagement, HRH Crown Princess Katherine shared:

“Everyone deserves to live with dignity and care. Supporting institutions like Sremčica ensures that children and vulnerable adults who need special attention are not forgotten. I am deeply thankful to The John and Mildred Medic Wuchenich Foundation for its generosity and long-standing commitment to helping people in Serbia, and to Lifeline Chicago for making this donation possible. Together, we can continue to bring comfort, security, and hope for the future.”
